Jonathan Robert Murphy, O.D.
Dr. Murphy takes the time to get to know about each patient and their individual needs and desires. Whether it is selecting the correct glasses or contact lenses for your lifestyle, educating you about a medical condition, or simply listening to your concerns, he always has your best interest in mind.
Dr. Murphy grew up in a suburb of Philadelphia and graduated from West Chester Christian School in West Chester, PA in 1994. He then studied Biology at Cedarville University where he met his wife, Amy. They married in 1999, just after Dr. Murphy received his Bachelor of Science degree. After a year working as an optician, Dr. Murphy began his optometry training at THE Ohio State University, graduating in 2004. Family brought Dr. Murphy and his wife back to Pennsylvania where they have settled in Hummelstown. The Murphys were so happy to bring their first son, Ewen, home from China in 2009. He is now in 11th grade, and enjoys going to the gym, playing golf, hanging out with friends, and longboarding. The Murphys traveled to China again to adopt their second son, Ethan, in 2016. Ethan🤟 is 10 years old and is in 4th grade. He loves drawing and playing video games. Isaac came along as a surprise addition in 2017. He is now 6 years old, and is enjoying 1st grade. He never stops moving, but he hasn't settled on one sport just yet.
Dr. Murphy also enjoys serving in several capacities at Community Alliance Church in Harrisburg, PA. When he is not busy with other family, work, or church responsibilities, Dr. Murphy enjoys dates with his wife, golf, and going to amusement parks.

Theresa is our Office Manager and insurance expert. As Dr. Murphy's sister, she really brings a family atmosphere to our staff. Theresa left her career as an educator in 2006 and joined Murphy Eye Care later that year. Please e-mail her if you have any questions concerning your insurance coverage.

Pam brings over 20 years of experience as an optician to Murphy Eye Care. She joined us in 2007, and she has been helping our patients choose personalized eye wear to fit their needs ever since.

Theresa joined our staff in December of 2013. She is our main technician, but she wears many other hats as well. Theresa's friendly and professional demeanor have certainly been a fantastic addition to our busy office.
Melissa
Melissa joined our family in January of 2023 when we moved to our new Houcks Road location. Her smiling face will typically be the first thing you see as you enter our office. We have affectionately nicknamed Melissa "Candy", because she never misses an opportunity to offer patients a sweet treat as they leave.
